Celebrating Scot Macbeth
Sunday, there was a gathering of Scot Macbeth’s tribe to celebrate the extraordinary life of this beloved founding AHF director. Family and friends from the climbing, trekking and music worlds swapped stories (tall and Taller), toasted him with his favorite scotch (Laphroaig!) and reminisced about the man who had brought so many people together over the years, for adventures and misadventures, at altitudes high and low.
The music ranged from a wonderful string trio playing Bach Brandenburg 6 to Willie Nelson, Don’t Let Your Babies Grow up to be Cowboys. And after Chairman Richard’s tales of fifty of years of friendship and carrying on, Meg Eldridge’s effervescent talk and Ellen Boomer’s family stories, to call out just a few, the sun began to set and there was, of course, a piper.
Not a dry eye in the house. We will miss him always; he is so woven into the AHF fabric. And the work Scot loved best, STOP Girl Trafficking and Dr. Banskota’s Hospital for Disabled children, will live on as part of his legacy.
